Show info
American culture, in its nearly half-decade span, has produced one truly original art form. It is a music, characterized by a certain shade of blueness. From slave spirituals, to gospel and prayer, to plantation work songs, to jazz and soul, The Blues has defined the American aesthetic. The Blues is an abstract truth than can\'t be understood through reason or logic--it is only a feeling that can be expressed through art. All that we can know about The Blues, as musicians and listeners, is that it holds an essential place in the heart of our heritage and culture. On The Blues and the Abstract Truth, what is most popularly thought of and categorized as Blues music makes up a small portion of the music we share with our listeners. We strive to span the spectrum of all music that is rooted in The Blues, with a particular focus on jazz, its ancestors, and its offspring. This includes, but is not limited to, swing, bebop, hard bop, fusion, independent hip-hop, and funk.
